learning math while making lunch

I  try to use everyday thing's to teach my little. So cooking is a great way to  learn math, to follow  directions  and  you learn results (  cause  and  effect)  So it was pizza for lunch  measured  and countedby the little.  now we wait for it to cook.  Oh  the Joy of teaching!  Happy  Lunch!

the joy of crafting

I  saw this today on  Pinterest and thought to myself,  this is so me!  Crafts and making things brings me Joy!

table centerpiece

 This pinecone  and candle center piece can be made with items purchased from the Dollar Tree. You  will need the following:
1- basket
pinecones  from your yard
6-  white candles
6-  clear vases
3-   tall candles in  glass container
2-  bags of Epsom salt
1-  container of table salt
Directions: mix Epsom salt and table salt in a bowl. separate the  mix into the glass containers,put candles in containers. It makes them looklike they are sitting in snow. arrange candkes in basket and put pinecones around them. Light your  candles and enjoy!

Ok here is what we made! Step one clean jar put whooping cream inside, step two shake shake shake, first phase whipped cream, then shake shake shake see it pull away from the sides then shake shake shake almost done completely pulled away now you have buttermilk as shown in the yellow cup lastly rinse your butter gently under cool water and you have yourself some homemade butter! That will go with breakfast today and and we will probably have to make more for thanksgiving.  that's how it's dibs my friends.  Just a little bit of  Joy in my mouth !

bible story

 Good  morning to all.  It's very cold but this morning is a blessing already.  Every morning at breakfast time I  read the little a bible story to go along with his breakfast.  We started a few weeks ago.  So this morning when I ask him what he would like for breakfast he replied" a bible story"  now that's Joy!  Way to go little for doing what everyone needs to do.  Have the Lord's word for breakfast.  By the way he did get grits  with his heaping helping of God's word this morning.  Love you little :-)

what are you thankful for today

Today I'm thankful that I have a place to shower. We all know how great a shower feels. Yes a shower washes away the dirt from our bodies but sometimes it does allot more than that. It can wash away the days stress, troubles, give us a place to think, cry, and talk to God. So today don't dismiss something that seems so small because just as the shower can wash away the day it gives us a chance to talk to God and he can wash away far more than that if you just let him. There's more than one way to be clean.

Sunday is a no run day

 Home from church  and lunch.  Now time to  rest.  Hope everyone has a great day with family, friends and make sure you get great joy from the Lord today.  This is the day he made.

a little family time & some shopping of course

Good Saturday morning! Its a geat day here at the Shepherd House. Sun is shining and its a whopping 58 degrees. So this morning we went to breakfast at Cracker Barrell ( which is where I wanted to go yesterday by the way) becaue my husbands cousin was here from out of town.  Food was great , server was great and we had a great time with them and my husbands brother and Dad also came for breakfast. Nothing like a Craker Barrell lunch. After that we brought the guys ( the hubs and the little ) and my daughter and myself headed out to do a little shopping at Lifeway , love that place, and the Dollar Tree , also love. I'm looking for some clear vases for yet another project for my fireplace mantle, did I mention one of the christmas trees that we put up has all my pigs on it? I love my piggies! We have an 8 1/2 foot tree that we put in our den and its done in pink and silver with all my piggies on it. I get a new pig ornament each year for it. Some years its a real challenge to find one so its a pig scavenger hunt we take part in each yr. We LOOOOOve it! Just so happens at Cracher Barrell this morning I found my Piggy, so the hunt for this year is OVER! That's right over. I'm a little sad because it's a challenge and this yr it was just to easy. But I do have my piggy after all and that does make it easier to bare! I will post a pic of my piggy tree for you to see asap when we get it all completed and the mantle of course! OH the JOY in the little things Family, breakfast and don't forget my brand new PIGGY! Find your joy in the little things!

ok so here'sthe project I promised

 Getting ready for the holidays. I  know I just posted my thanksgiving mantle, but you have to prepare early! I  love  it,  what about you?  it goes with dine other decorations that are in the works  for my front porch. I  will show you those when they are finished.  oh and by the eddy my little changed  our breakfast plans this morning.  guess where we went,  yep you got it c Chic- fil-A.  We do love our  chicken minis. I  think they put something on those things to make you want them.  Oh well  joy was had by all  and that's what it was all about!  What are you working on?   Let me know.  I'd  love to see it!

looking forward to today

Looking forward to today! Look forward to each day and see what joy it brings. I hope today to get in a little breakfast with the hubs and the little ( that's Peyton my 4 yr old, by the way ). Im thinkin a little school work for the little. We have been working on number and letters and so on. You know to get him ready for school. Some days it goes well, some days not so well, but that is the story for all of us I guess. Some days all things seem easier than others. Oh well, I think a craft for his work today might  be in order. Its cold out and we have enough frost to look like snow. So crafts it is! He loves to cut and glue. I guess thats his joy of school work and he does LOVE to CUT! I think if I had the papaer he would cut from morning till night! I'll give you a  pic later of what we accomplished. If you like let me know and I can post instructions.

 Ok,  so what do you think about the mantle? I  do believe it's fall ready! I  have the other project on the way, just thought I  would give  you a little peek of the decorations  already  complete :-) I  find joy here  at home with family.  What about you?

So let's talk about today! I can describe it in one word " COLD ". I love the new time change it get dark earlier! Yes my favorite time of year and the same for my Sweet Mama! Getting ready for the holidays around here. Lots of decorating going on and meal planning for Thanksgiving, which by the way is right up my alley. Nothing and I do me Nothing beats planning for a party or get together! I don't know about you, but there is nothing I like better than getting out my not book and pencil and getting to those details. Who's on the guest list, what are the decorations going to be like and most importantly what are we EATING! I dont know about your house but we love to eat around here. Let me know what your planning. I've got a little decorating project for this week hope it turns out the way I have invisioned to to be. I'll post a pic when its finished and let you see.
